Article:End of Life Quality Care Conference Comes to the Hill

September 26, 2004 -- Dr. Sheila De Gruy, President of De Gruy & Associates in conjunction with Sharon Ellis, R.N. of SeeJ Consultants presents our first health education conference in Signal Hill, Ca. with the "Introduction to Hospice" Caring for the terminally ill. The conference is scheduled for October 16 and October 23rd at the Signal Hill Community Center at 2175 Cherry Ave., Signal Hill, CA. 90755 9 AM-3:30 PM. A continental breakfast will be included along with handouts and a drawing for some great prizes.
Thirty fives years of health care experience has given Dr. De Gruy and Ms. Ellis a competitive edge and recognition in the health care community. The main focus of this conference is to examine the hospice philospohy in the areas of: pain management, symptom control, the patient/family as a unit of care, core services, reimbursement, spiritual support, preventing caregiver burnout, creating an atmosphere of support and encouragement and more... as we prepare for National Hospice Month in November.
This conference is offered to all health care professionals, family members, interested community residents, administrators of community service agencies, senior citizen organizations, physicians and interested parties. There will be 10 C.E.U.'s given for the conference. The cost is $80.00 total for the 2 days. Call for registration information. On-site registration is $90.00. There are still a few scholarships available.
De Gruy & Associates also provides care manage-ment services, health fair coordination, event planning, comprehensive convalscent home assessments for families who may be considering placement of a loved one, geriatric health education for organizations, churches and family members and caregiver training for family members or non-certified caregivers. More conferences are planned for 2005.
